Week 2: Making Clay Pots
Hello Scoil Chríost Rí, our class are making clay pots in the months of February and March. Right now we are making pinch pots. They came out excellently! We had to pinch and stretch the clay. We left them for a week to dry and then we painted them with lots of amazing colours. We had so much fun making them and we are so grateful that Ms Cullinan gave us the opportunity to make clay pots. Thank you for reading. Goodbye Scoil Chríost Rí!

March

For the last 2 weeks our school has participated in Seachtain na Gaeilge. We have been doing fun activities to help with our Irish, like Cluiche Biongó. Each class got two Easter eggs to raffle off for students that spoke the most Irish, Bridget and Ruth were the winners in our class. We had “Seó Taillainne” in the Halla where all classes preformed either a poem, song or a play as Gaeilge. We did a poem about Croke Park and the GAA.

Mamma Mia
On Wednesday our class went to Milano’s to learn how to make pizza. This was our reward for reaching 500 stars on our class chart. We all got our own apron, chef’s hat and a piece of dough. We had to use our fingers to make the dough into a circular shape. Using the palm of our hand and rolling pins we flattened and flipped the dough. Next we were ready for the sauce! After this, we put on the mozzarella and the pizza was ready to go into the oven. They gave us a takeaway pizza box to bring our pizza back to school but we ate most of it there. Thank you Milano’s for the delicious pizza!

Pancake Tuesday
Today 4th class got to cook their own pancakes and decorate them. We had a choice of toppings either lemon, chocolate, sugar or syrup. Ms. Cullinan brought in batter that she made at home. She had two electric hobs so we could make the pancakes ourselves in the class. Ms. Cullinan showed us how to make the pancakes and then we had a chance to flip our own! It was great fun!

Week 1:
Our Christmas art has been in full swing this week! Our classroom looks like a winter wonderland full of Christmas penguins, Christmas window art and Christmas tree decorations. To create our penguin art we used paint and lots of decorations! These decorations included snow flakes, sequins, wool, glitter and different colored paper! We are so lucky to have such a variety of materials to choose from to create our artwork! Everybody really enjoys art and we all find it so relaxing. It really helped us get into the Christmas spirit. We would like to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas. Here are some photos of our Christmas art:

Week 2:
Our class have been rehearsing for our Christmas show for the past six weeks. Everybody has put in an incredible amount of work into learning off dance routines and also the lyrics to all the songs which will be played during the course of the show. This year second and fourth class will be preforming together. We would like to give a special mention to Mar a fantastic dance teacher who has been helping us. Our show will be called "Scoil Ri's Got Talent". Our show will take place on the final week of school just before the Christmas holidays and it promises to be an entertaining show for all our families and friends! As they say in show business "Break a leg!".
Week 3:
This year the Gaelic Football team had a very successful season. The boys and girls trained very hard all year in all kinds of rainy and cold weather conditions. The boys trainers this year were Mr Garry, Mr Healy and Mr Crehan. The boys team started playing their matches in September. We reached the Division 4 Schools Final and got to play in Cusack Park. The whole team were so proud and delighted to play in front of our whole school. We were lucky enough to win the match. Fourth class had three players on the team Eoin Dinan, Ryan McCarthy and Hannah Saidi. We even had an article written about our team in the Clare People!

Week 4:
Last week we reached our class target of 500 stars! This week we got our prize! We got to bake fairy cakes. Mrs. Carroll brought in the recipe and explained the steps to us. Ms. Cullinan, Ms. Downes and Ms. Laws along with Mrs. Carroll helped us to follow the recipe carefully. Once the fairy cakes were ready we each got to decorate our own! We could choose nutella or vanilla, chocolate or strawberry icing and then we each got to add a flake and a malteaser to the top! The buns tasted delicious! We cannot wait to reach 500 stars again! Here are some photographs from the day:
Week 3:
On Friday 17th November, 4th Class went to the Clare County Council offices to meet the mayor, Councillor Paul Murphy. This was part of the Junior Achievement Programme that 4th Class participated in for the past 5 weeks.
The children began the morning with a tour of the building and then spent time in the councillor's chambers. This was a great experience for the children. They each got to introduce themselves to the Mayor and tell him a fact about themselves! The microphones are set up so that only one person could speak at a time. The Mayor explained that this was a very important function in meetings!
Next the Mayor explained to the boys and girls what his job involved. They then got the chance to ask the Mayor some questions. The Mayor was very impressed with the super questions which the boys and girls posed! We learned a lot!
After this five representatives from the class spoke. They were Hannah, Ryan, Kayla, Noah and Reia. They each spoke about a different topic. Hannah began by introducing everyone and thanking the Mayor for meeting us. Ryan told the Mayor about our Green Flags and about the Green School's Committee's current Goals. Kayla spoke about our new school and all the fundraising we are carrying out. Noah explained the FRIENDS for Life Programme which 4th Class are also participating in. Lastly Reia summarised what we learned from the Junior Achievement Programme.
The Mayor then presented each pupil with their Junior Achievement Certificates and we all posed for a group photograph.
It was a brilliant day and just before leaving each of the boys and girls received a bags of treats from the Junior Achievement volunteer, Nicola.

Week 3:

Every week our class participate in music with Mrs Vaughan. Our class all have our very own instrument to play. There are many different kinds of instruments we can play like tin whistles, flutes, fiddles, accordions, concertinas, banjos and drums. On Thursday, we began practicing for our Christmas Concert which will be held in the Tesco Shopping Mall. We all played in this concert last year and it was a great success! Music is a fantastic way to relax and it is the highlight of our week in school. We all work hard to learn off our tunes and encourage each other to try our best. Each week we improve and by the time of the concert we will sound very impressive. It will be excellent to showcase our talents in our town of Ennis for everyone to listen to and enjoy.
October Birthdays:
We have a number of students celebrating their birthdays this month including Hannah, Giyaath, Mariama and Reia. These students will receive homework tokens and we hope that they all enjoy their special day. Lá breithe shona duit from all the boys and girls in Ms Cullinan's fourth class!

Week 2:
As part of our maths groups this week, we played maths games which helped our multiplication and division. Not only this, but it also helped our skip counting and made us use our mental maths to quickly answer sums. The game was set up like a board game with loads of different sums we had to answer. We played the game in pairs and everyone got very competitive! We really enjoyed playing the games and in the weeks to come, we will challenge ourselves to get every single sum correct. The whole class found the game to be a fantastic way of testing our multiplication and division.

Week 1:
For the next five weeks our class are lucky enough to have an opportunity to learn about city and town zones through a series of group talks and discussions. We started these talks on Thursday and we all are really enjoying the talks so far. We learned that city zones are divided up by residential, farming, industrial and multi purpose. We have a guest speaker from the Clare County Council discussing these town and city zones with us. She has lots of information about the different city and town zones we have here in our own of town of Ennis. We all identified the different zones you might find in a town or city on a map which she put on our white board. We are all looking forward to the weeks to come and learning more about our town of Ennis and the zones that exist here.
