Our project is really taking shape now and we are linking it so well to the theme of biodiversity!! We worked very hard in these two sessions. Each of us made our own letter for the word "Biodiversity" out of clay. We also created our individual clay panels to represent our chosen bird, animal or plant. We rolled, scored, shaped, painted and created! With the left over clay Jackie showed us how to make our very own hedgehogs. We can't believe the project is nearly over. We have learned so much and had so much fun. Todays session was great fun! Jackie showed us how to use materials like stones, leaves, petals and feathers from our environment to make marks in clay. We rolled out the clay with rolling pins and made our unique designs and patterns. We worked hard and we were very proud of our creations. Jackie will put our pieces in the kiln to fire them! We can't wait to see what they will look like! CraftEd. Biodiversity ProjectWe had a wonderful session this week. We showed Jackie the sketches and research we had been doing. We have all chosen one aspect of nature as a theme for our project. Jackie brought clay and a potter's wheel. We each got to make a 2D representation of our chosen topic in clay using tools and coloured slip. After that everyone got to throw a pot on the potter's wheel. It was so exciting!! We can't wait until the next session!! We are so excited to be working with Jackie Maurer, Ceramist, as part of a CraftEd. Art project this year. The theme for our project is biodiversity. We are hoping to make an outdoor clay display. We met Jackie and she showed us her own work. We were very impressed! We had a discussion about biodiversity. We all picked an animal, bird or plant to research. Jackie also showed us how to do a study on an aspect of wildlife. We got to work sketching and writing. We will each make a scrapbook of all our work.We are really looking forward to our next session!! |
